At Swimfarm, we work with adults at various swimming levels: from the novice swimmer, to the improver who wants to incorporate swimming in their fitness routine, to the aspiring competitive swimmer or triathlete.
Swimming has been found to burn more energy than any other sporting activity, but only when it is done properly. What's more, to get the full benefit of swimming in terms of fitness, posture and joint and muscle health, the correct technique is of paramount importance. As one of only five sports that have been proven to increase life expectancy, swimming is associated with a 41% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and a 28% lower risk of premature death from any cause.
Many adults did not have the opportunity to learn to swim properly as a child, resulting in a lack of water confidence and poor technique. For the novice swimmer, our lessons will teach you the essentials in a safe, supporting and welcoming environment, letting you enjoy being in the water.
At Swimfarm you will work on initially building confidence in the water, starting with simple breath control techniques before moving on to floating and gliding and then learning basic propulsion. Once the skills are mastered we will look to develop the front crawl and/or breaststroke. The instructor will be in the water carefully guiding you and explaining the process at all times.
For those who can swim, but want to develop a technically sound stroke either for fitness purposes or to participate in an open water swimming event or triathlon, our lessons will concentrate on stroke development. From here, we'll help you to further improve your stroke to become more efficient, so that you can get more out of your workout, and improve your times in open water.
We also offer advanced teaching methods for experienced swimmers to help you refine your technique, avoid injury or get the best out of your regular training. For example, having your stroke filmed and expertly analysed can take your swimming to the next level.
Drills will be more technical and aim to develop streamlining, stroke length, relaxation and improve stroke efficiency. Sessions are 1hr or 1.5hrs and can accommodate up to 4 people.
Typically, adult lessons are provided on a 1:1 basis. However, we can organise different size groups to suit individual requirements (e.g., couples, best friends … etc) - please contact us for more information.
What our Swimmers Say...
“Pilar was a brilliant coach! She helped change my stroke (after 40 years of swimming) in preparation for my first long distance swim, which was across the English Channel! Pilar was patient, extremely knowledgeable and an inspiring teacher. I thought of her every stroke of my swim and will be forever grateful to her for opening up new doors and adventures.”
